What business, NGOs and academia can learn from each other about DEI?
What business, NGOs, local authorities and academia can learn from each other about implementing DEI?
Thanks to the conference "Connecting dots", organised last weekend in Cracow by Humanity in Action, together with Joanna Pająk, Roksana Ulatowska, Nina Gabryś-Janowska and Mateusz Płoskonka and great moderation by Monika Mazur-Rafał and Dr Magda (lena) Szarota - we could discuss about how to implement DEI effectively in different sectors.
I shared about the significant overlaps between the NGO and business sectors: spanning attraction, pre-onboarding, onboarding, and development processes. Both sectors encounter similar challenges in fostering inclusivity throughout these stages and need to be mindful of bias involved.
To me, there is a lot of potential for mutual learning, where businesses can adopt non-standard solutions and patience from activism, while NGOs can enhance their impact measurement practices by drawing insights from the business world.
It was very interesting to listen to the inputs of other panelists and the questions from the audience and what truly stood out for me was the opportunity for deeper exchanges during the world café session in the latter part of the conference.
Thank you also Małgorzata Durska, PhD for a great intro speech to the discussions!
I'd love to hear from you in the comments: What do YOU think we can learn from each other, coming from different sectors? How can we do a better job of connecting the dots?
Thank you Piotr Banasik, Michał Knapik and Dorota Gierszewski for the photos. It was great meeting you!
