allyship is an essential part of inclusive leadership

As June approaches, the spotlight shines on the word starting with "A."

Yes, I mean hashtag#allyship.

But allyship is not constrained to one month nor one group.

It's one of the essential components inclusive leadership depends on*.

It’s every day task of leaders and managers to ask themselves:

📍Do I truly value diversity on my team?
📍How do I demonstrate that this is important to me?
📍Do marginalized team members truly feel I value their perspective and contributions?


And regarding allyship…

📍Do I acknowledge that the world is experienced differently by everyone depending on one’s privilege?
📍Do I question the status quo?
📍Do I check myself on my bias?
📍Do I leverage my role to amplify marginalized voices?

These questions are especially important for leaders and that’s why I’m excited for the upcoming workshops with them, where we will tackle the meaning of allyship in the context of inclusive leadership.

But they are relevant to everyone. Each of us has the power to be a true, authentic and every-day ally.
