six divers of burnout

Dr. Christina Maslach in her research identified 6 common drivers of #burnout:

🔹work overload: the mismatch between demand, resource, time and tools

🔹lack of control: limited autonomy and choice on how to run things

🔹insufficient rewards: lack of recognition

🔹breakdown of community: lack of support of people you directly work with

🔹absence of fairness: the lack of respect, #microaggressions, discrimination you may experience

🔹value conflicts: working in unethical and value conflicted place or the lack of feeling that you’re proud of your work and how you’re contributing to positive change

All that may lead to three responses:

🔹Exhaustion
🔹Cynicism
🔹Inefficacy

DEI #leaders may be particularly affected and on my blog you'll find a post about emotional labor contributing to that: https://lnkd.in/gYN_J8mc

To create a safe environment where people are not prone to burnout is a responsibility of the organization, not yours individually.

However, you can lower the taxing effect of this job by working on your perspective and today’s bingo shows things to keep in mind for that.

From your experience, what is important for a healthy mindset in this job?
