MICRO AGGRESSIONS related to mental health

It’s the National 🇵🇱 Day for Combating Depression.

Navigating conversations around mental health and depression can be very difficult. We may not know how to react or lack vocabulary when someone shares about their mental health. We may not know what to say to be supportive.

And sometimes, despite being well-intended, some expressions can actually be harmful, unhelpful or perceived as microaggressive.

In today’s comic strip you’ll find 3 common expressions related to mental health - some examples of microaggressions and ways change that narrative, that I cover in my DEI single-topic focus workshops and webinars.

Consider sharing this post to raise awareness about how to be supportive in conversations around mental health.

Have you ever encountered other expressions that might be harmful or unhelpful when discussing mental health?
