Diversity month - walk the talk

May, the Diversity Month, has started and I hope that it will bring a lot of great discussions and good reflections in organizations on why they invest in DEI work and why is it important.

For me, DEI is a question of responsibility that creating an organization brings. Responsibility for creating a place where people truly feel like they belong because the sense of belonging is one of our prime needs.

It’s equally important for humans like our physical needs.

We can’t belong somewhere where we cannot be our full selves, seen as who we are and respected for who we are.

It’s incredibly taxing for our mental health to fake who we are, to underplay parts of our identity to fit in. “People will quit and go or they will quit and stay”. In any case - it impacts their mental health.

Workplaces should be held accountable for creating healthy working environments and for addressing all identified potential threats to people’s well-being.

Walk the talk, not only for Diversity Month.
