"RIDICULOUS EXCUSES NOT TO BE INCLUSIVE

CoorDown and the National Coordination of Associations of People with Down Syndrome is launching  a campaign for the World Down Syndrome Day 2023.

The campaign, "RIDICULOUS EXCUSES NOT TO BE INCLUSIVE," aims to promote the full participation of people with intellectual disabilities in society, free from discrimination and ableism.

Throughout my work as a DEI trainer, I observe that a lot of microaggressions and discriminatory behaviors stem not from bad intentions but from:

🔹 social awkwardness
🔹 lack of education on how to behave
🔹 lack of awareness

While it is not an excuse, it is important for us to acknowledge these factors and take responsibility for our own learning. We need to make a conscious effort to develop our social competencies and actively strive for removing blockers of inclusion.

I love the campaign video and I think that challenging discriminatory attitudes is the first step to reflection that can spark a change.

We all have not only a potential but also responsibility to shape our DEI competence and transform our spaces into more inclusive ones so that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
