Who is dominating conversation at your table?

Do you want to measure it?

I’ve recently came across Gender Avenger Tally App “Women’s Voices Count“* - a tool that gathers concrete data points on gender dynamics during conversations.

Yes, even in rooms that seem gender-diverse, men still dominate conversations to a large extent. Is it also your experience?

 Now you can measure it.

The app measures two things:

  • who is at the table - number of men, women, women of color, and nonbinary persons

  • who speaks

Without measurement, there’s no accountability, and without accountability, there’s no change.

Take action, when you see that someone’s voice is dominating:

-        if you are a moderator: it’s your job to make sure no-one dominates the discussion

-        when you see attributing – go back to the person who said that first

-        amplify voices and make sure people get credit for their ideas

The link to the app and to the full report “Who Talks”.

Try it and let me know who is talking at your table.

*During the 2016 election GenderAvenger partnered with Rutger’s University Center for American Women in Politics to research the prevalence of women commenting on politics during top rated cable shows. The results were discouraging with men appearing 44% more often than women, which demonstrated a clear need to continue exposing the disparity.
