I don’t believe in motivating people

I don’t believe in motivating people.

But I strongly believe that people don’t really need to be motivated when they feel safe to show up as who they are and are appreciated for it.

Also the studies* show that the sense of belonging – feeling included, accepted and valued by the group we find worth belonging to, is the key factor of people joining and staying in a company.

Leaders play a critical role in helping people experience this sense of belonging.

How to do it?

-        Be kind and empathetic leader that genuinely cares

-        Create opportunities for creatively working together

-        Have fun together

-        Adjust the ways of social connection to the needs of people – in person and online.

Your focus as a leader should go on changing the system not the people.
